In the News: App Developers Sued for Lack of Privacy Policy

Last week, California Attorney General Kamala Harris’ Office announced they are filing charges against Delta Airlines for failing to display a privacy policy in their mobile app. The move comes after the office notified around 100 app makers to improve the privacy policies within their app last October.

While the Delta app may be the first targeted for not having a sufficient privacy policy, this action indicates California’s commitment to making app privacy a greater priority – effectively upping the ante for app makers who fail to follow suit.

Last July, we released mobile advertising guidelines to help the industry understand how to develop applications with user privacy in mind – you can check them out here.

We think it’s great to see a commitment in ensuring that personal data is kept safe and private on mobile devices.

What do you think about the crackdown on app privacy?
