Secure your identity and your device in one app with expanded protection from Lookout Personal

By Lookout

Today, Lookout is adding two new tools to our Personal app for individuals who are concerned about the safety of their digital identity and financial data.
In today’s mobile world our personal information is stored in many services on our devices and across the internet, which is a great thing for our daily digital lives. Criminals see value in this information, too, especially if it’s information associated with our identities, and may attempt to breach the services we use to obtain it.
Identity Theft Protection helps you detect and recover from identity theft, and Breach Report notifies you with clear, actionable information about corporate data breaches that may impact you. These new features, coupled with our time-tested security technology, make the Lookout Personal app the only all-in-one app for mobile security, identity theft protection, and device theft prevention.

Lookout Identity Theft Protection: the details
It seems like almost every other week news outlets report another data breach to popular services we use every day like Yahoo!, LinkedIn, and Twitter. In 2015 alone, 12.7 million people in the United States had their identities stolen, according to a report from Javelin.
Attackers take login credentials, personally identifiable information, bank account and credit card information, and other data. Now people like you are wondering, “Is my information next?”
Screen Shot 2016-11-14 at 11.55.30 AMAfter surveying thousands of individuals in the United States about data breaches and identity theft, we realized that most people don’t have anyone in their corner when identity theft happens. Seventy-five percent of respondents said they “aren't clear on what steps to take if their information is breached.”
That’s where Lookout Identity Theft Protection comes in. Our new Premium Plus package entitles you to receive identity monitoring, recovery services, 24/7 access to our ID Restoration concierge service and a $1 million insurance policy* automatically.
Lookout Identity Theft Protection will monitor any information you decide to input in the app, including email, phone number, bank account and credit card information, Social Security number, and more. If your personal information is ever exposed on the “dark web,” the Lookout app will alert you and provide advice on what to do next as well as the opportunity to call our 24/7 Restoration Assistance hotline for help. For example, the 24/7 concierge service representative will handle the otherwise time consuming process of restoring your identity by communicating with the appropriate organizations and agencies, such as banks, on your behalf, saving you time and energy.
The fees associated with restoring your identity can add up quickly, from legal support to loss of income and document replacement. Premium Plus subscribers are backed by Identity Theft Insurance that covers up to $1 million in damages and legal fees with $0 deductible. Identity Theft Insurance* covers identity recovery costs including:
  • Lost wages or income
  • Attorney and legal fees
  • Expenses incurred from refiling for loans, grants and other lines of credit
  • Costs of child and/or elderly care
Breach Report: the details
Lookout is focused on making sure you have as much information about breaches — either to your data or to the companies around you — as possible. That’s why we’re also introducing Breach Report, a new Premium feature that will alert you if a company, app, or service you may use on your device is breached and provide straightforward, actionable advice on how to protect your personal information and prevent possible identity theft in the future.
Breach Report also provides a newsfeed-like stream of breaches that happen around the world, so you’re always in the know. If you’re ever interested in general breach news, you can check out the Breach Report section in your app for the “latest breach” news.
Lookout always has your back
Mobile threats, data breaches, and identity theft can be scary, but they don’t have to be. Lookout is always working in the background, keeping a close eye on your device and data for you.
We are excited to be your complete mobile security solution, keeping you informed, empowered, and most importantly, secured.

no idea what Lookout does. it is put on my phone and i can only disable it not take it off, but what does it do? does it detect viruses? it seems that I can only use it for business concerns from what the website indicates. i have virus problems on my cell and therefore likely on my computer, but i still cant tell if Lookout is what i need as i cant "contact us" unless i have a business name.

My Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was stolen and I don't know what steps to take to reestablish all my accounts? I also have Google+, Google Drive and Samsung. Please advise me how to proceed. I did reach out to your organization but haven't been able to understand the communications since this has been a traumatic experience! Thank you lookout for providing excellent notifications when I go to a site that is not secure. Warm regards, James Greenblat

Hi James, I'm sorry you've had trouble here. As it comes to reestablishing your accounts, you should change your passwords on those accounts immediately to ensure anyone who has access to it will be locked out. You should set up two-factor authentication for these accounts as well. For your Google accounts you can do this by going to: myaccount.google.com > "sign-in & security" > scroll down until you see the two-factor authentication section. You may also want to wipe the stolen device. You can check out further advice on what to do after your phone is stolen here: https://faq.lookout.com/topics/21640710-lost-or-stolen-phone-what-do-i-do-now Hope this helps!
